About the data

This is an independent, non-government directory of where Tennessee households can dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW). It's built only from official state, county and city web pages.

Sources

• Collection days: TDEC's 2026 HHW schedule PDF. The tn.gov server refused our automated download, so we read the identical-titled copy posted by Rutherford County (footer dated 1/5/2026). Directions links use the coordinates printed in that schedule.
• Year-round sites: the TDEC HHW program page (temporary containers) plus each city or county's own page (Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Putnam County, Shelby County).

Where a source doesn't publish a field (for example, Metro Nashville's HHW page lists no hours, and Chattanooga's page shows a map pin but no street address), we leave it blank rather than fill it from unofficial sites.

Coverage

Tennessee first. Neighboring states (Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Virginia, North Carolina) will be added one verified county at a time. We add county pages only where there is real, distinct information, such as a year-round site.
